Research Scientist
I am a Research Scientist. Previously, I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist with Dr. Shaolin Liu and then at the Translational Neuroscience Laboratory at Howard University with Prof. Evaristus Nwulia and Dr. Magdalena Misiak-Christian. I obtained my PhD at Lagos State University where I was advised by Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello and also at University of Texas Health Science Center as a Fulbright Scholar with Prof. Yidong Bai and Prof. Russell Reiter. I worked as a Visiting Scientist with Prof. Alfredo Kirkwood at Johns Hopkins University, with Prof. Menahem Segal at The Weizmann Institute, Israel.
My overarching research interest is focused on understanding the dynamic mechanisms that drive learning and memory in the brain. Previously, my research experience was focused on intrinsic and synaptic properties of neurons in different brain areas including the olfactory bulb, hippocampus, piriform cortex, and lateral entorhinal cortex using electrophysiological tools. More recently, I have been studying the basis for cognitive outcomes in the older population.
